Sheep Antics

During a wonderful camp with 37 teenagers for Greenwich Steiner school in September several students came up to me all excited telling me that there was a new lamb in Shepherds Meadow. No, I said not possible! knowing that our ram had been nowhere near the ewes in April. Sure, a lamb was born to one of our retired Shetland ewes aged 16 who has not been with a ram for two years and the next day another large white single ewe lamb was born. Wracking my brain I finally remembered that our retired ewes did get out for a couple of days into our neighbours field where he keeps his easy-care rams. So, we have quite an interesting cross, Shetland with Exlana, and now very large autumn lambs, yet mothers and lambs are doing very well.
