Arriving & Parking

Please ensure that you have followed the correct directions for getting here and which entrance to use.  

You will find that our drive is a working farm track, and is not a tarmac road. We maintain this as best we can, but please take care especially if you have a low-suspension car and do observe the 5mph limit.

We have parking on hardstanding for around 50 cars, and plenty more on grass/soft ground (unless the ground is absolutely soddened from recent rain). We do strongly encourage car-sharing as part of our ethos here at the farm.

Your car is left at your own risk.

If you have access needs you will be directed to park on the farm track, closest to the Cob Barn and yard. Please do not park here unless you have accessibility needs.


Accessibility

Oxen Park Farm is by its very nature, a farm, and the access & tracks are farm tracks - in very wet conditions they can become muddy and therefore very difficult for wheelchair users. The farm is on a hill, and access down to the wildlife ponds, up to the Circle Garden and the Hot Tub, orchards and beyond are steep, and the ways are guided rather than marked with proper tracks.  

The areas around the Cob Barn and Dining Barns are relatively flat and accessible. We will have staff on hand to assist if you make us aware of your needs ahead of your visit.

There is an accessible toilet onsite, but it is further away from the venue than is ideal. We are in the process of fundraising for a new accessible toilet closer to our Cob Barn & Dining Barn. Please do get in touch to discuss your needs. 

Visitors with children

We love children being at the farm, and encoucage them to explore and experience the farm as much as they can. We do need this to be done safely.

Bodies of water are the most dangerous thing we have on-site. It is your responsibility to ensure everyone is aware of where these are and to keep your children away from them.


The big rope swing is tied up when we hire out our venue. This is for everyone’s safety. Please do not untie the rope swing. 
The smaller rope swing is there for you to enjoy.

The play structure, net swing and sand-pit is for your enjoyment. All children must be supervised at all times.


Dogs

Please note that as we are a working farm, we do not allow dogs on site other than assistance dogs.

Toilets

Here at the farm our toilets are 4 compost toilets. The only things that compost are your human waste, toilet roll, the inside carboard of toilet rolls and the blue paper towel used to dry your hands. Bins for period-products, nappies and other waste are provided. Please take all nappies home with you as we do not have the facilities to dispose of them. Please dispose of all other rubbish in the recycling area. Do not use the toilets if you stand up to pee.

There are two straw-bale urinals for those standing up to pee.

Showers

Here at the farm we have 2 showers that are outdoor gas-powered showers. Our drainage is very sensitive to the wildlife – please only use products without SLS, and as non-damaging as you can find. Please also consider water usage in the drier months as we often have droughts which means we cannot water our crops which must be our priority.

Food at the farm
We do everything we can to accommodate dietary requirements & allergies, but there are limitations as we have only one kitchen.

While we are not able to provide a completely gluten-free environment we can provide gluten-free options throughout our menus. The same is true for those with nut allergies – we can create food without nuts but we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment. Our food is vegetarian, and is often dairy-free and vegan. Please make us aware of your food intolerances, allergies and dietary requirements in good time ahead of the event, and also come and talk to the kitchen staff when you’ve arrived.

Alcohol

If the event you’re coming to either has a bar, please do not bring your own alcohol. The cost of venue hire at the farm is affordable due to guests using our services – a bar is one of these. So please support the farm and buy from our very reasonably priced bar.

Photos

If you are coming to a public event, please be aware that we will be taking photos throughout the evening to share for our next event - if you do not want to be photographed, please let the team on reception know and they will inform our photographer. These will be generic photographs, and not close-ups featuring any one person in detail.

WHAT TO BRING:

Weather on the farm can be variable, and much of our space is open to the elements. It is always a good idea to bring waterproofs, wellies & layers to keep warm.
Lighting on the farm is kept minimal to avoid light pollution. Please bring a torch so that you can move around the farm safely after dark.

The Cob Barn is a shoe-free zone. Please remove your outdoor shoes – you may want to bring slippers or indoor shoes.

Cash - we function with and celebrate the cash economy, so please bring cash with you for the bar, food & farm shop. 


We want your unloved mugs!

You know that mug at the back of your cupboard that no-one likes? Perhaps its matching friends have already fallen, and it’s feeling lonely. Great news – we already love it! Please bring your unwanted mugs (not tea cups please – we love a big cuppa here) to the farm and add them to our collection of oddballs.  The same is true of any cutlery you might have hanging around. We’re always in need of more, so please donate any stainless steel cutlery (nothing that will tarnish please). We love to be able to cater for everyone here, so do bring along any baby, toddler or smaller children’s cutlery along to donate once your children have outgrown it.

If you’re camping with us.

When you hire bell tents or the yurt from us, you will be given a mattress with a mattress cover on it. You will need to bring your own bedding: sheets, pillows, duvet, blankets.

Please bring bathroom and shower products that are environmentally friendly. If you bring extra snacks, disposable wipes, nappies etc, we ask you to take away the rubbish you have created as we do not have capacity to manage this.
