Family Camps 2025

What To Expect
Now more than ever, we need community.
One of the joys of hosting family camp is that through inviting people into our community, we can collectively reimagine and redefine what family looks like. It is because of this that we welcome families of any shape or size. Moving into our fifth year, the On The Hill Family Camps are a growing community of returning families, and see us welcoming new families each season.
We love hosting you on the farm, and it is an absolute pleasure and joy to watch your children grow and explore with curiosity year on year.
The camps are held by our warm and creative hosting team, and are generously staffed with diverse and dynamic facilitators, creating magic and caring for your children.
We start each day with a morning circle and games, and throughout the day we offer workshops for adults, children and young people in rural crafts, gardening and cooking, clay play, fire craft, drumming, singing for adults and children, circus skills, daily yoga in the cob barn and much, much more. Not to forget, or indeed mention... our now infamous Family Camp treasure hunt extravaganza!
Feedback from previous camps tells us that you welcome space to "just be" so we give time for enjoying the land and down time, reading a book by the wildlife ponds, gently swinging in the polytunnel hammock or wondering up the hill for a sunset moment.
We have heard the value of the circles we have held for women, men, parents and older and younger children. These are a chance to listen, share and explore creatively, and these will be part of our camp this year.
There are lots of options for local walks, and trips to swim in the river, night walks, sleeping out in bivy bags if you wish to under the stars and space to dream.
Daily land and farm activities will take place that you are welcome to join in with - cider bottling, time with the animals, bringing in the hay, the mass potato skirmish, seed sowing and trailer rides!
Evenings of live music, candlelit cinema in the cob barn, friendships sealed at the Dock & Thistle - our very own pop-up bar and tuck shop, and bedtime stories around the fire, where characters really do come to life!
We have the wonderful addition of a wood fired hot tub this year, beautifully nestled in the orchard for an evening under the stars! This was built as a legacy project by young people on Hill Tribe 2023.
There will be onsite massage therapies available to book in advance from the wonderful Lotte Norgaard - more details nearer the time.
We foster a community culture and ask that all families come prepared to be of service to the whole by helping out with washing up, chopping veg and any other camp care tasks. This will be initiated with a 'sign up to help out' rota system.
The Dock & Thistle tuck shop will sell a range of snacks and campsite provisions (this is a CASH ONLY BAR) Our mini library (beautifully made by two 2021 camp participants) stocks a range of books and games for you to borrow while on the farm.
We welcome your gifts and skills, so if you have a workshop you'd like to run or space to hold then get in touch, we create community together!
